چکیده

Introduction: Here, we present two case reports of adult female patients with the pathologic diagnosis of large sacrococcygeal teratoma. Case Series: In the first patient (aged 19 years), pelvic ultrasonographic examination showed a large (85.9×88.7 mm) multiloculated complex cyst posterior to the cervix. No evidence of recurrence was observed post-resection. The histological examination of the specimen showed mature cystic teratoma with no malignancy. The second patient (aged 16 years) was with a history of slow progressive enlargement of a nonulcerative mass in the gluteal region. Surgery was performed. On histopathological examination, the specimen showed chronically inflamed pilonidal sinus with mature cystic teratoma. Conclusion: These two cases suggest that we Taher Hawramy1, Awder Khazendar2, Seerwan Hasan3, Mohsin Ahmad4 Affiliations: 1MBChB, D.G.S., C.A.B.S., F.A.C.S., F.MAS, Surgical Emergency Hospital and Surgical Teaching Hospital, Sulaymaniyah city, Kurdistan region, Iraq; 2MBChB, FIBMS (Neurosurgery), Head of Neurosurgical Department, Shahid Dr. Aso Neurosurgical and Ophthalmological Hospital, and Surgical Emergency Hospital, Sulaymaniyah city, Kurdistan region, Iraq; 3MBChB, KBMS (Neurosurgery) Trainee, Shahid Dr. Aso Neurosurgical and Ophthalmological Hospital, and Surgical Emergency Hospital, Sulaymaniyah city, Kurdistan region, Iraq; 4MBChB, High diploma in general surgery, C.A.B.S. trainee, Surgical Emergency Hospital and Surgical Teaching Hospital, Sulaymaniyah city, Kurdistan region, Iraq. Sacrococcygeal Teratoma: A Case Report

Background: Neonatal tumors are usually prenatally diagnosed or within the irst 30 days of life. The true incidence ofneonatal tumors is unknown as a great number of pregnancies with a prenatally diagnosed mass result in stillbirth ormiscarriage. Most solid neonatal tumors are benign whereas less than 50% of neonatal neoplasms are malignant;however, some tumors with malignant ...

Prenatal sonographic diagnosis of congenital sacrococcygeal teratoma and management.

Teratomas are tumors containing tissues derived from all three germinal cell layers. Most teratomas arise in the sacrococcygeal region, with a reported incidence of 1/40,000 births. During labor, severe dystocia may occur in infants with large tumors if delivered vaginally, with an extremely high fetal morbidity and mortality rate. Reported is a case of a large congenital sacrococcygeal teratom...

Cardiac arrest during excision of a huge sacrococcygeal teratoma - A report of two cases -

Resection of large sacrococcygeal teratomas (SCTs) in premature neonates has been associated with significant perinatal mortality, making this a high risk procedure requiring careful anesthetic management. Most deaths during resection of SCTs are due to cardiac arrest caused by electrolyte imbalances, such as hyperkalemia, and massive bleeding during surgery. We describe two premature neonates ...

Laparoscopic Abdomino-Paracoccygeal Resection of Anorectal Cystic Teratoma

Sacrococcygeal teratoma rarely presents in adulthood (reported incidence of 1:87 000). It is more common in females. Adult anorectal teratoma is a rare variant of sacrococcygeal teratoma. The majority of tumors spare the sacrococcygeal bone. The size and location of the tumor within the pelvis dictates whether it is approached surgically through a transabdominal, posterior, or a combined approa...
